Welcome to Mirassou Owners In Action

Mirassou Condo Main Entrance
Welcome to Mirassou Owners In Action a blog set up by a group of concerned Mirassou condo owners trying to facilitate revitalizing our community.  We believe that as owners it is our responsibility to facilitate addressing our community’s issues as the value of our homes depend on it.  According to an article in the Miami-Herald, “The median price of a Miami-Dade condo rose 7.3 percent to $177,000 in February from a year earlier”  (Brannigan, 2014).  Yet, on Zillow.com a leading online real-estate market place, a Mirassou property only showed a 6.7% increase from last year.  While a .06 % difference isn’t a large variance, a sluggish sales market and overall economy in South Florida makes condo rentals and sales much more challenging, which ultimately impact our property values.  There is also something to be said about having pride in the community you own and live in. Mirassou Owners In Action was formed to help start addressing some of our very obvious issues that impact our property values and the pride we have in our community.
Mirassou Main Entrance Today
From the moment you drive in the Mirassou you are confronted with issues that take away from the image of a community you would want to invest in or rent from.  The faded, chipping entrance with over grown shrubs is not very inviting.

Guest Entrance
Then there is the guest entrance that needs repair, painting or maybe even replacement.

Mirassou Building Disrepair

As you approach our buildings you will notice the need for a good power wash and painting.

More Mirassou Disrepair
The closer you get to the building the disrepair become more and more evident.

The Mirassou Dump

Some are just an issue of community housekeeping.

Elevator Safety Issue - License Suspended
Others are a bit more serious

Mirassou Moldy Pool
There are some that can even be health concerns that need to be made an immediate priority.

At the end of the day every day that these issues are not addressed they get worst, ignoring them won't make them go away, and as they deteriorate so do property values and any pride that we have left in our community. Now, the good news is that they are all things that can be addressed, repaired, or replaced.  The not so good news is that they have been sitting around for quite some time waiting on our Board of Directors to address without any resolution.  In turn, if we want things to change going forward it will require the cooperation of our entire community of owners and renters.  We must come together before the department of health, the fire department, or our accumulating debt catch up to us and our community is condemned, the association goes bankrupt or the disrepair becomes insurmountable.
We are focused on making a difference in our community and are looking for like minded owners and renters that want to joining us in making Mirassou a great place to live again.  We have launched this blog to keep everyone that is interested informed of the issues, events, and progress of our community.  If you are interested in participating in our efforts or have any questions please contact us at mirassouownersinaction@gmail.com.  Otherwise, you can subscribe to this blog for our periodic updates.
